STILL NO RAIN!! Unless you count a shower one night and another in the morning!

In the Autumn we had the dilemma of wanting to get plants and trees in but the ground was hard and dry so it was difficult to dig the holes and the plants would not have got off to a good start. So we postponed until the Spring. Now it is the same but we've got on with planting anyway. We have planted a total of 30 trees in the three and a bit years:

7 almonds, 1 lemon, 7 orange, 1 fig, 6 olive, 1 peach, 1 nectarine, 1 apricot, 1 kumquat, 1 mango, 1 cherry, 1 plum, and 1 strawberry (arbutus)

We have bought them from the local monthly market at 5 euros each.

After planting they have had a good handwatering and now the irrigation comes on at night for 20 minutes. It would be better if the ground was wet from rain so it remains to be seen how they get on.

Note: Mowing - 3 years ago it seemed impossible that we would ever be able to mow here, but after consistently strimming and keeping the weeds/grass under control it is now mowable.

The terrace where we were preparing the ground last month has now been planted up so it is now finished:

and the broad beans planted early October look like this now with the pods rapidly filling out:
